FLEXIBLE PRACTICUM TRAINING (FPT)

an innovative approach to Practicum or On-the-job training, which aims to integrate FLEXIBLE PRACTICUM MICRO-TRAINING SERIES as a response to the uncertainty of physical training in the establishment. This approach lessens the number of hours the student trainee needs to complete in the establishment. In this FPT each trainee bound for practicum must complete their required number of hours of 90 hours of flexible practicum micro-training series and a minimum of 80 hours and a maximum of 120 hours shared learning exposure.

Transcend: Micro Training Series 1 Season 5. 

Our first resource speaker is Ms. Marikit Mendoza Samonte a Regulatory Compliance Engineer in Philippine Airlines. She went through a lot before she got this position from working in an airline company since 2015. She has been with Cebu Pacific Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines Cargo and joined Philippine Airlines and she started as airport operation supervisor up to what her position right now.  Our second resource speaker is Ms. Liezel Caones a Food and Beverage Staff in Holand America Line. She started her career as service ambassador at Passion Chinese Restaurant at Maxim's Hotel Resort's World Manila. I admired how these two empowered woman really passionate and dedicated about their work to achieve more goals in life. They experienced rejections, and of course emotional pain is only one of the ways person's well-being being impacted because it can damage mood and self-esteem. Despite of that, I admired how these two handle those rejections they have been experienced in work. They doesn't stop to reach more goals or what is best for them and so they are in a good position right now. I want to have that kind of positive attitude so that when I face rejections too I will know how to respond on that rejections.

Our first resource speaker is Mr. Anthony Lester Lizardo a Cruise Sales Officer at Costa Cruises Philippines. Travel People ltd. Inc. And our second resource speaker is Mr. Mark Allan Delos Santos a Crew Welfare Coordinator under Human Resource Department at Princess Cruises. What I have learned from this webinar is that if we want to pursue our career in cruise industry like to what Mr. Anthony has been mentioned people should put a lot of hardwork and effort into it because it's not all about traveling to places around the world it is also an experience and memories that will last for a lifetime.

Our first resource speaker is Ms. Shann Brazil a restaurant manager in Corner Bakery Cafe. During her humble beginnings she started to work at Golden Acres Development Corporation known as McDonald Philippines as Restaurant Manager in 1999. From June 2004-2006 she was an operation consultant for MCDonald, AJ and F Food Corporation.  She was also a part time professor and lecturer at CEU and OLFU. Her hardwork and good attitude and perseverance lead her to be as the General Manager at McDonalds in Torrance California in the United States of America in 2007. After her decade of managerial work in McDonald she accepted as district manager of Jack n Box in California in 2018 and now she became a General Manager in one of the leading bakeshop in the Us the Corner Bakery Cafe in Manhattan in Los Angeles, California USA. 

Our second resource speaker is Mr. Christopher Guado Caraingan a Culinary director and owner of Calye Culinarya. He is a former executive chef and the food church manager at Park Espanol Renzoang. The former Culinary Director and Food and Beverages Director at Nurture Wellness Village. A former Vice President at International for Managing Director at Nori Groups and the Chairman Resource Chef. The director of the studies at the Golden State and Culinary School. Chef Chris, said that they create both filipino brands from modern filipino and heritage food as well to promote business. While Ms. Shann mentioned that people is important in representing brand business. They are right through branding people should create a positive perception of their company in the public eye, shaping how a person want customers to think about their brand. How brand looks, communicates, and operates in all essential parts of the branding process. Brand is central to company’s continued growth and success. These two resource speaker ensures that everything we embark on is part and parcel of what’s realistic for our company.  Furthermore what I learned from this webinar is to create, maintain and reinforce food safety culture in food and beverage business implementing a food safety culture that emphasizes safety, cleanliness and following well-established protocols. Ensure that food safety culture starts at the top also people in a food and beverage business should demonstrate that food safety is a priority and that must be taken seriously by every employee, during every shift, and with every meal. By emphasizing the importance of food safety, employees will work continuously toward the mission that a company has implemented.

HIAP

Hiap consist of 5 learning path and it covers different sets of lessons per courses. Through watching sets of videos and answering assessment it helped me to widen and deepen my knowledge about Essential Public Health in lodging area in times of pandemic. I also learned the office standards, Information Management Training, Hospitality Standards and Leadership Foundations. 

AHA

This online hospitality course provides an introduction and overview of the global hospitality and tourism industry, its growth and development, industry segments and their distinguishing characteristics, trends and current concerns. Students are introduced to professional hospitality career opportunities and the employability skills needed to succeed in specific hospitality career. AHA is also composed of modules and along with this, it has skill builder section where a student should post what he/she have learned in the module or from the lesson. Next one is the discussion section wherein there would be a question or set of scenarios that a students should answer according to what she have learned. And lastly, is a set of quizzes.

The Tourism Society of Columban College conduct a free webinar via zoom meetings it entitled ''INTRODUCTION TO AIRLINE INDUSTRY'' Through the speaker's experiences they shared a lot of beneficial information with us and this was indeed an inspiration to all of us and for all the future members of airline industry.

The JIBIS Events of Joji Ilagan International School of Hotel and Tourism Management conducted a free webinar via zoom. The first speaker is Mr. Henry Pingol a Hotel HR Director he talks about Fantasy VS. Reality, The Real Nature of the Job in Hotels. For the Power Plan for a Career Success the speaker is Mr. Alvin Olive a Cruise Director. Last speaker is Ms. Michell Carbonell a First- Class Cabin Crew, she talks about Tourism Job Seekers'Tool kit The When, Where and How to Apply. These three speakers gave us the core knowledge necessary to work in the airline, hotel, and cruise industries. 

SUSTAINING THE TOURISM, HOSPITALITY AND BUSINESS INDUSTRY AMIDST PANDEMIC

Leyte Normal University conducted a free webinar. Thre resource speakers are: Dr. Karina Rosa Tiopes a Regional Director in Department of Tourism VIII, Mr. Stephen Mwathi a General Manager at Mwathi Tours and Travel, Ruiru, Kenya, and Mr. Artemio Almazan III a Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist at Department of Trade Industry, Region VIII. They update viewers with the new sustainability strategies that will need to apply in the new normal.

REBRANDING DOMESTIC TOURISM

Taylor's University collaborated with PATA, Pacific Asia Travel Association Malaysia Chapter and student chapter. Speakers simply gave us information on how we do revitalize the tourism economy amidst the pandemic. ​

EVENT OPERATION AND INTRODUCTION TO A NEW NORMAL AND SAFETY PROTOCOL

Hospitality Management of UM Tagum College conducted a free webinar program. The resource speaker is Ms. Genevie D. Iraola a UMTC-College Instructor. This webinar highlights the transformative nature of the pandemic through reconsiderations of the purpose of public sector involvement in events an, from a policy perspective and how relatively smaller scale, more agile and lower risk events can figure in recovery.

YOUTH: REINFORCING LEADERSHIP AND COMMUNICATION LITERACY TO  THE FUTURE LEADERS OF TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

In pursuit of knowledge and excellence, the College of International Tourism and Hospitality Management Student Council- LPU Batangas conducted  a free webinar. The Keynote speakers are Mr. Jojo Villamin a Founder of Junior Tourism and Hospitality Management Association of the Philippines. Second speaker is Ms. Jamie Lee Mendoza, Asst. Principal/ International Coach at LPU Batangas High School Department. What I have learned from this webinar is that, If we have a strong leadership we will experience better overall performance, including high levels of satisfaction, organizational productivity, financial gains, and product quality. It has also a positive impact on employee retention, performance, engagement and morale. 

DIFFERENT TYPES OF BAR SERVICES AND BEVERAGE SERVICES 

This webinar of UM Tagum College prepares viewers/ students to have prior knowledge in an international career in the hotel, restaurant, or bar business. I have learned bar services and beverage services techniques, cocktail preparation, understanding wines and wine services and also effective communication with guest.

SHEROES: WOMEN LEADERS IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRIES

Women Leaders in Tourism and Hospitality Industries gave an empowering talk and left positive messages. This webinar allowed us to momentarily see the speaker's reality through their shared stories and experiences. Attendees are able to recognize the work and contribution of women in the Tourism and Hospitality Industries. They also discussed empowerment and closing the gender leadership gap. We are also able to understand gender-based challenges and ways to overcome them lastly the encourage the youth to become leaders in their respective boundaries.

Eversity helped students to be engage and connect with our peers, trainers and student support. Budget Finance Management describes the skills and knowledge required to take responsibility for budget management, interpret budgetary requirements, allocate resources, monitor actual income and expenditure, and report on budgetary deviations. While Research Methodology-Australian Standards describes the skills and knowledge required to comply with laws and licensing requirements for specific business operations. For Budget Monitoring and Preparation it describes the skills and knowledge required to lead and manage continuous improvement systems and processes whereas it Emphasized the development of systems and the analysis of information to monitor and adjust performance strategies.  Furthermore Financial Information Interpretation describes the skills and knowledge required to interpret financial information and reports used by organizations to monitor business performance and provide information on operational or departmental financial activities in the tourism, travel, hospitality and event sectors. Lastly, Work Health and Safety Procedures describes the performance, skills and knowledge required to implement prearranged work health and safety practices at a management level to ensure a safe workplace.
